1. PERSPECTIVE
Technique of drawing a representation of something on a flat surface so that it appears to have depth and distance.
VERTICAL PERSPECTIVE consists of the profile, facial features, front/sides/back of the head. used to check for balance and symmetry & how high to lift the hair.
HORIZONTAL PERSPECTIVE aerial or birds eye view, shows the shape of the hair cut when all the hair is lifted straight out from the head.
2. DIMENSION
Refers to the properties of an object in terms of Height/Width/Dimension. Looking at an object with both verticle and horizontal perspective.
VERTICLE PERSPECTIVE = HEIGHT = ELEVATION
HORIZONTAL PERSPECTIVE = WIDTH = OVER DIRECTION
(DEPTH = LENGTH OF HAIR (SHORT, MEDIUM, LONG))
3. DISTRIBUTION OF WEIGHT
Weight can be distributed upward or downward depending on your elevation. Weight can also be distributed forward/backward depending on over-direction.
Characteristics of hair such as texture and density can also effect distribution of weight
4. ELEVATION
Is the lifting of hair from its natural fall/position on the head.
‣ ONE LENGTH
‣ GRADUATION
‣ LAYERS
ONE LENGTH uses 0 degrees/minimal elevation, keeps weight at the perimeter of the hair, all lengths finish at the same plane
GRADUATION uses 1-89 degrees of elevation, builds weight & is longer on top with shorter pieces on the bottom
LAYERS uses 90 degrees and above elevation and removes weight with shorter pieces at the top and longer ones at the bottom
