Shape & Benefits

One thing that's important to remember is that the lighter your structure the heavier the foundation needs to be. Shape is also an important factor and a very durable shape for a structure is a dome shape. Building a bridge that has a dome shape will make the bridge able to withstand the wind more. The last major cyclone ruined the structures there but if the had a bridge that could withstand this then that could potentially save lives and money. Also if the bridge doesn't collapse because of a cyclone then they could take the concepts of the bridge and adapt them to other infrastructure and make the whole place safer.

In February of 1994, Madagascar was hit by the cyclone Geralda and it was the worst cyclone there since 1927. It killed people and left others homeless. However it also had a huge amount of destruction come to the buildings, roads, and other infrastructure.
