Cause - On January, 30, 2000, a large amount of cyanide spilled into a river in Central Europe. This toxic spill triggered the worst environmental disaster since Chernobyl.

Effect - Many fish died and otters died from eating contaminated fish. This spill shut down many water systems because of the danger associated with drinking it.
