What is Sonar

SONAR = SOund Navigation And Ranging. This technology was originally used for detecting icebergs. It was used during WWII to detect submarines. It is still used for that purpose, but also has a lot of other uses, such as fish finders, mapping the ocean floor, inspecting bridge foundations, cables, or pipelines. In theory, it could even be used for finding things underwater that you may not expect!

Fun fact: Sonar makes use of sound waves
