1916: Britain produces the first practical underwater active sound detection apparatus
1920s: U.S. and Britain continue developments
WWII: British sonar technology is transferred to the U.S. Many advances are made. This rapid development of technology rockets the Allied forces to a superior standing, enabling us to win the war.
Today: sonar is used all over the world for safety and communication at sea.
