Dr. Neville shows strength and perseverance numerous times. He especially shows strength and perseverance while he finds a cure risking his life multiple times. The doctor captures different "zombies" and works on them in his laboratory testing different cures he attempts to create. This shows great strength and perseverance because he tries finding a cure still after over a year of attempts and failures. Robert also risk his life by such close contact with the zombies he catches.

Dr. Neville shows strength and perseverance at the end of the movie when he puts others in front of himself. He doesn't give up on his work and try to save himself. Instead, he sacrifices himself to save his work and the companions he had just barley met. Dr. Neville is strong beyond measure when he finishes his work by saving a woman and her child by taking on a hoard of zombies. This allows the woman and her child to hide in a safe spot, and Robert sacrifices himself in the process.
