Samba

Although the history of Samba can be traced back to Africa, its quite popular in Brazil.

In the beginning of the 20th century people tried to mix samba into the local culture by setting up samba schools or escolar de samba.

The very first samba school was set up by Ismael Silva. He changed the style of the music to suit carnival better in hopes that people would include samba in their culture.

Samba music is now very popular in Brazil and is one of the most loved dances in the world.
