Music in Brazil
-Before Portuguese settlers arrived in Brazil the indigenous people played music by clapping their hands and stomping their feet. They also used rattles, flutes, drums, whistles and horns.
-The first African music heard in Brazil was lundu. Lundu music is a blend of the Argentinean tango, polka, and Cuban Habanera. It was the beginning of what is now recognized as Brazil's very first urban dance music, or maxixe.
-Forro is Brazil's version of country music. It's most often heard in the northeastern regions.
-MPB, or Musica Popular Brasileira, combines samba with folk music, pop music, and rock music. It's one of the most recent music trends in Brazil but it has caught on quickly.
