Childhood

Carver was born into slavery on January, 1864 in Diamond, Mississippi. Not soon after his mother was kidnapped and he became free. His white owners raised George as his own child. He always had a love of nature and was fascinated in botany. Sadly he wasn't allowed to attend school with the white children. In result, at a young age Carver resolved to move North for school.
