Fort Sumter was built during the war of 1812. Fort Sumter is a man made island located in Charleston Harbour. On April 12 1861 over 500 Confederate soldiers attacked Andersonville 86 soldiers. When the South seceded federal troops guarded the Harbour. In March 1861 Lincoln realised that Anderson we're going to run out of supplies soon. Lincoln sent three ships to restock Fort Sumter. After 34 hours of confederate cannon fire they had broken the thick walls of the Fort. After a few hours Anderson surrendered. This started the Civil war!
