Observations

I observed and noticed that the potato went from being very moist and soft, to rock hard, and dry. This is because the salt that the potato was buried in absorbed the moisture from the potato. In the mummification process, the ancient Egyptians stuffed the dead person's body with salt to preserve it from decaying. To do this the ancient Egyptians first had to take out all the organs in the body except the heart which was believed to be needed in the afterlife. Overall, our experiment with the potatoes and salt gave us a view and understanding of what the mummification process in ancient Egypt was like.
