Clothing in the Medieval times is very different from the clothes we wear today. The clothing of the 13th century was made by mostly peasant women. They used flax, a garden plant, and wool from sheep to make it. The flax was woven into linen and then cloth. Wool was woven into threads and then cloth or fabric. Dyes were made by boiling plants and white was made by bleaching the cloth or leaving the linen out in the sun.The colors were dyed into the fabric over fires and the correct heat and pressure was essential. For this reason, Medieval people put as much dye as possible to impart the colors. Jewelry was also worn, but it was lavish and usually just a security against loans.
