Back in the Medieval times, people didn't have medicines or antidotes like we do now to heal from injuries. In Catherine, Called Birdy, Birdy uses different remedies for illnesses we still have today. For boils, Birdy used a paste of sow bugs, moss, and goose grease. Today we use methods like putting honey and a bandage on it, putting ice on it, or using Plantain leaves. For sour throats, Birdy used a gargle of strawberries, water, vinegar ,and dog dung. Today we use methods like using honey, gargling salt water, or gargling licorice roots. Finally for boils, Birdy used an ointment of oil of bay and advised a bath once in a while. Today, we use methods like changing clothes regularly, bathing regularly, and having a diet of fruits, vegetables, and meat.
