Artemis father Zeus had an affair which left her mother Leto impregnated and chased by Python sent by Zeus wife Hera. Thankfully, Artemis was birthed without any pain, and quickly took the role of midwife to help assist her mother in the birth of her twin brother Apollo. This event gave Artemis the power and responsibility to protect and nurture women through childbirth.
