The Family
By Benny Andrews
Describe:
-In this painting, the obvious objects in focus are the family on the water
- There are various uses of edge line and pastel colors.
Analyze:
- Many organic and geometric figures used to portray the plants and grass.
- Touches of pastel color add variety and emphasis on the family.
-The family painted are posed in very frigid positions, causing th picture as a whole to look very static and a sense of symetrical balance.
Interpret:
-In this painting, I believe Andrews is trying to depict that no matter where in the world you may find yourself situated, family will always be an essential part of the structure of society. He wanted to emphasize its importance and did so by placing the family's figures in the center of the painting.
