U.S. Constitution
The Texans borrowed the US's constitution for the militia laws. They had based off of the the US Constitution for the Republic so felt it fit to use it again. One of the policies they agreed with was keeping the three branches of government. They also kept the House of Representatives and the Senate and each representative would serve for two-year terms. They needed them to be similar because they were a part of the country now.
