* Before the name of the island was actually Island of the Dolls, the property was owned by Don Julian Santana.

* Legends says that in the year 1950 he saw a little girl drown in a canal, and her spirit began haunting the island. Fearing for his life, he began collecting dolls for the girl to play with. Over a half century he collected over 1,500 dolls.

* The island was finally discovered in 1990, Don Julian was found in the exact spot where the girl was said to have drowned.
