What is the difference between a biotic factor and an abiotic factor?

As explained by http://www2.ccsd.ws/sbfaculty/team8e/jecole/Science/abiotic_vs_.htm,"Biotic factors are the living parts of an ecosystem---the animals, plants and microorganisms.
Abiotic factors are the non living parts of an ecosystem." An abiotic factor is different than a biotic factor because an abiotic factor is not alive, and a biotic is.
