Bear, A Canadian Rescue Story 💜

Bear...A rescue story

Living in a plywood dog house, this Newfoundland mixed breed pup had slept out in the elements since July 2013. Surrendered by his owners December, 21st-2013, Bear entered the care of Compassionate Animal Adoption Rescue in Montreal, Quebec. Literally frozen, ice build up on his fur, he left his old life behind to begin anew. Having never been to a veterinarian for care, the volunteers with CAA Rescue knew that it was a must to have him examined & neutered before he was to be adopted.

Having had zero training, never once walked, never having the opportunity to be a puppy, all Bear wanted to do was please those caring for him in rescue. Without ever having the opportunity to list sweet Bear as available for adoption, a lovely couple from Vermont travelled to Quebec. Driving 10 hours to visit him, they adopted Bear on January 11th-2014 & took him home to the United States. Bear is the first Compassionate Animal Adoption rescue to become an un-official USA Ambassador.

A Note From Bear's Adoptive Family: Bear is our 1st rescue experience & it was amazing. I found him so serendipitously. I was searching on petfinder for a golden mix, found Penny, who was sweet but not quite right, then I checked out the Compassionate Animal Adoption Rescue site & Facebook page & discovered Bear. There was just something about him. I could see it in the picture of you kneeling down in front of him. He was starting his new life full of love just as Callie was finishing hers surrounded by the love of all our extended family who had arrived for the holidays. Several weeks before this, I bought a rug for Ken's Christmas gift that features a golden dog and a black dog playing in the snow. I had no thought that we would ever have a black dog & was just thinking that he would like it because if the golden. Now though, it's so meaningful, Callie & Bear greeting each other as they past into & out of our lives. CAA Rescue, you were so great to work with. Responding to my millions of emails, sharing so much information & making sure that we knew for sure that Bear would be the right match. I really appreciate that you do not rush the process, even though there is need for spa...
