in the mayans time, conflicts between cities almost always lead to fighting and wars. most battles were to gain power and land.the two cities tikal and calakmul fought very often to gain power of a small city located between them. the wars were very bloody. warriors fought hand to hand using spears, knives, and wood clubs. the maya often captured enemy soldiers and used them as sacrifices for religeous ceremonies.
