When Mary was born, 1842, this was the time when Melbourne was still colonising and there were still quite a few ex-convicts around who were poor or/and didn't believe in God. Luckily, Mary's family had a lot of faith in God, especially herself. Because all the people around her, the poor and the people that didn't have enough faith in God, she decided to dedicate her life to God and care for the poor and encourage everyone to believe in The Lord.
