Many people like to party, drink, and cheat on there spouses. The book The Great Gatsby takes place in the 1920's and Fitzgerald explains the 20's as a time when people loved to drink, party, and cheating on there spouses. In the book Daisy was cheating on here husband Tom with Gatsby and Tom was cheating on Daisy with Myrtle. Here is a quote from Nick about Gatsby "He wanted nothing less of Daisy than that she should go to Tom and say: “I never loved you” (Fitzgerald 82). This shows the extreme relationships that Gatsby and Daisy had with each other. Tom and Myrtle also had the some kind of relationship and what are the odds that both Tom and Daisy were cheating on each other. Fitzgerald focuses a lot on these two couples cheating on there spouses throughout the whole book the 20's was a time of cheating. At these party's people got really drunk to the point were they had no idea what was happening for example this quote “Did we run outa gas?” “Look!” Half a dozen fingers pointed at the amputated wheel — he stared at it for a moment, and then looked upward as though he suspected that it had dropped from the sky. “It came off,” some one explained" (Fitzgerald 43). The quote took place at the end of one of Gatsby's party's this man in particular had no idea he had gotten into a accident and that his wheel feel off, he probably should of not been driving anyway. This was not the only time Nick mentioned people getting drunk at the party's, every party was linked with drinking. So to conclude people that went to the party's got really drunk. Fitzgerald explains in a lot of detail throughout the whole book that the party's Gatsby had were huge and crazy. Which lead to people getting drunk and making stupid decisions like cheating on there spouses.
