Integumentary System ( Skin )

Skin is the largest, heaviest, and takes up the most space on our body compared to the other 8 major organs. As seen by the picture, we can see that skin has many parts, from hair follicles, to sweat glands. It has many veins and arteries, along with 2 main layers: The Dermis ( the inside, is mostly made up of everything the skin is protecting ), and The Epidermis ( the outside, it's made up of the seven layers of skin ). It is located on the outer layers of our bodies, and is always visible. It is very prone to diseases, as it is the most vulnerable part of our body, because it is the protection of our vital organs. It is also vulnerable to the ultra-violet rays of the sun, and if exposed to these rays for too long, it could cause skin cancer, and other skin related issues.

1. What is the Dermis?

2. What is the Epidermis?
