This picture shows the signing of the Statue of Westminster on December 11, 1931, signed by King George 5th the statue was a trade and Military alliance of independent countries under the British Crown. The signing 1931 did mark Canada’s official independence from Britian

The signing of the statue of Westminster was significant during this time as the signing marked Canada's independence from Britain and other British colonies we now independent as we'll but Canada still needed Britian’s Privy Council as Canada’s final court of Appeal and in addition, any changes to Canada’s Constitution would still need to be passed by Britain’s parliament.many Canadians were pleased with Canada's independence and were happy that Canada could finally have it's say on things indispensably and still be somewhat connected to Britain with its trade and militarily alliance the statue gave .

The signing if the statue of Westminster is still important today that is why we study in it in history for a number of reasons not only did it make Canada and independent country . It also allowed them to have there own say we see this when Germany invades Poland in World War Two and first Brittany and France declare war but seven days later Canada declares war by itself for the first time as an country . We also still have trading and military alliances with Brittany though the USA is our biggest trading partner .
