At the time of Gatsby

The Great Gatsby is set in 1922, between WW2 and the Wall Street Crash and explores the world from the perspective of these times.

The American dream was high on everyone's mind as they wanted to get out of the darkness of the war and make something if their lives. Fitzgerald demonstrates this throughout the novel in many ways throughout each of the main characters.

Gatsby, Nick, Tom and Daisy all represent the mindset of pioneers at the time.
