Most destructive tornado in US history

On March 5, 1925. A supercell storm produced an F5 tornado that holds the record for longest track by a single tornado in the world, spanning over 220 miles. The tornado touched down in Missouri, traveled thru Illinois, and finally stopped its destructive path in Indiana. Along with its incredibly long track, the tornado raced through the areas it affected at over 60 mph. People were unsure of what was heading towards them at such speeds since a mile wide tornado traveling at those speeds is unheard of. The tornado is the deadliest in US history killing 695 people and injured 2027 people. The tornado caused $16.5 million in damage and when adjusted for inflation is over $1.4 billion. The tornado destroyed over 15000 homes rightfully planting this tornado as the most destructive tornado in history.
