Hideki Tojo was the Prime Minister of Japan during most of WWII. He felt that Japan's future lay with European dictators - especially Hitler - who were much admired in Japan. He was convinced that a war with America could not be avoided. Tojo decided that a massive knock-out blow would be sufficient to remove America from the Pacific and authorized the attack on Pearl Harbor. After bombing raid began to destroy Japan, Tojo resigned from power. He was later put on trial as a war criminal and hanged.
