Neville Chamberlain
Chamberlain was Prime Minister of Great Britain as WWII began. After the failure of Britain in the Allies' retreat from Norway in 1940, Chamberlain resigned as Prime Minister. He died shortly afterwards.
Winston Churchill
Churchill lead Great Britain during most of WWII. He remained in London during the Blitz and regularly visited areas that were bombed. Churchill could have removed himself from the dangers of German bombers but refused to leave the people of London. He also took a role in military issues and was instrumental in the creation of commando units. Despite his popularity, he lost the 1945 general election, although he returned as Prime Minister in 1951.
