After Cavour's unsuccessful military career, he took up practical beliefs. He became a master of Realpolotik, and supported liberal reformation. He then acquired a belief in unification. He realized for Italy to become a single unified body that it would have to progress, and follow the leading countries in Europe economically.To accomplish his tasks he promoted industry, and practiced agriculture himself. Cavour later realized that in order to unify Italy all foreign power would have to be expelled from the area. Meanwhile Northern Italian forces had been fighting a war against Austria and Cavour was prepared to play his part. He established the news paper known as the Il Risorgimento which would publish articles calling for support.
