Asthenosphere
Soft and "Putty-Like"
The weakest layer
Because of the asthenosphere's soft structure, one activity on this tour will be the building of "Putty-Sculptures"! Much like constructing a snowman, tourists can compact the clay-like material of the asthenosphere into whatever shape they like!
FUN FACT
The asthenosphere is the second physical layer. Tectonic plates float on top of this layer. It is the weakest layer, consisted of the softest part of the mantle. It is still solid, but soft. One may describe it as clay, or Play-Doh.
Did you know that the asthenosphere flows as fast as your fingernails grow? That's not very fast is it? Even though Earth's physical layers are solid, they still move with a certain current.
