Gupta Empire

-The Gupta empire came to power in 320 A.D.
-It united much if the Indian subcontinent
-They insured peace and prosperity
-Hinduism had a strong impact on the Gupta society and cultural life
-The had a strong central government
-In the villages there was a headman/council that made decisions
-Women were allowed on the councils but that died out
-It was a caste system
-The Gupta empires contributions were peace, prosperity, scientific and artistic achievements, they developed the concept of zero, the decimal system, and a system of writing Arabic numerals
