Earth Hour

Schools

Gen Y has always been the most enthusiastic Earth Hour supporters – from school students, Universities and early-career professionals. Earth Hour is already built into most school calendars; we know this by the huge number of teachers and students contacting our team and downloading our curriculum resources. In 2015 we will significantly expand our Schools program.

In 2015 we will be working in three areas related to schools:

Establishing an official Earth Hour Schools Day - encouraging schools to turn the lights off on Friday 27th March and bringing on a dedicated schools team to support students, teachers and principals to make this happen;

An Earth Hour story competition for school students focused around the theme of food, farming and climate change - linking students’ research and stories to parents and the broader community;

Expanded curriculum resources including smart board lessons. We have just expanded our existing partnership with Cool Australia, commissioning tailored curriculum-aligned lessons (junior primary, senior primary, Years 7-8 and 8-9, plus a lesson based around the story-telling competition).
