The Society of the '20s

The views Fitzgerald had towards the society he was around, is similar to the novel Forrest Gump's theme in my opinion. In the novel, the main character Forrest Gump was shown as a
character who received many opportunities and had lots of fun doing what he loved. He was a man with a disability but that didn't stop him from fulfilling his dreams and desires. For example in the book it said "cause I was a gazillionaire, and I liked doin it so much, I cut that grass for free"(Forrest Gump). This shows Forrest Gump's love towards his hobby and how he doesn't need payment to have fun. Tells us how some people have morals on how money doesn't provide happiness for people. Also, it says "Mama always said life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get"(Forrest Gump). This means that life is full of surprises and opportunities, no matter what happens you keep moving forward. Forrest had many opportunities to achieve success in this novel. In my opinion, this quote is very powerful and can apply to my life as well. To conclude, Fitzgerald's views of the 1920s had a lot in common of the main Themes of Forrest Gump.
