Federal Imported Fire Ant Quarantine:

The FIFAQ is a government agency that is actively involved the eradication of harmful pest. They have set up regulations on plant nurseries that are in areas infested with fire ants the regulations require that people take special precautions when shipping plants from infested areas to non infested areas to try to prevent fire ants from traveling to non affected areas in the soil that those plants are planted in.

The Office of Plant Industry Services:

This government agency has tried to eradicate the fire ant but has failed in some cities and so the agency focuses on new out brakes of the ant and uses pesticides approved by USDA to try and eliminate the population before it gets out of hand. They I courage the public to call them if they think that they have found a fire ant mound so that they may get rid of it as soon as possible.
