Early Ranchers - When Mexico took control of Texas in 1821, the industry of cattle ranching greatly increased. If settlers were raising cattle, the Mexican government would give them 4,400 acres of land for grazing and ranching. Settlers used old English methods and mixed them with Spanish methods of raising and ranching cattle.
