Chandragupta Maurya

Chandragupta first gained power in the Ganges valley and then conquered Northern India. In 321-185bc, the Maurya dynasty ruled over the empire.Royal officials supervised roads and harbors. Other officials collected taxes and managed state-owned factories & shipyards. His rule was harsh but also effective. Police forces were in charge of reporting crime.
