Catalpa bignonioides
Catalpa bignonioides is a species of Catalpa that's native to the southeastern United States in Georgia, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi. The tree is also commonly referred to as the southern catalpa, cigar tree, and Indian bean tree.
The leaves are large and heart shaped. They are typically 20–30 cm in length and 15–20 cm width. The bright green leaves are full grown before the flower clusters open, it's leaves appear late. The open flower clusters on the plant add much to the beauty of the blossoming tree. They hide nectar, an unusual characteristic for leaves. The leaves are hidden by means of groups of tiny glands in the axils of the primary veins.
