Background
Protestant Reformation comes from root word protest meaning "an expression of disapproval" and reform meaning "an improvement of what is wrong." These wrong ideas in this case were within Western Christianity and had numerous of these wrong ideas in it. Most specifically, parishioners began to notice the corruption of church leaders in the form of indulgences where one (usually wealthy) could earn in some sense a free pass to heaven even when one has committed sins. In addition, there were issues of church leaders not being religious anymore and the church gaining an excessive amount of money. Thus starting the Protestant Reformation.
