Although there was a large growth in ranches and farms, at around the same time, there was also a large growth in towns. From 1850 to 1860, the number of people living in Galveston went from 13,000 to 26,000. Some important towns in Texas were, San Antonio, Houston, New Braunfels, Marshall, and Houston. Theses were all to small to be called cities. Yet, factories did form in Texas, two to be exact. A factory in Henderson, and a hat company in Houston.
