Martin Luther

Martin Luther was important towards the start of the Reformation. He nailed a list of complaints on church doors. This was called the 95 theses. The Church was not happy with these ideas however. Luther was excommunicated and later had to go into hiding. His ideas later led into a split of the Catholic Church. People who sided with Luther were known as the protestants.
