there were a few major factors that allowed a small group of conquistedors to take over a whole empire. they were alliances, weapons, horses, geography, and disease. corteses main alliance was an interpretor he met named Malintzin. she helped him get introduced to other indians. they spaniards had gear like armor, cannons, and swords. somehow the spaniard brought deadly diseases such as smallpox to the aztec empire.
