"Cortes"

in 1519 Hernan Cortes led a small group of conquiestedors to mexico in search of gold. the empereor Moctezuma ll believed him to be a god and welcomed him. Cortes tricked him and started a battle which infuriated the Aztecs. the Aztec army pushed spanish people out of mexico. but cortes came back with indian allies. in 1521 they conquered Tenochtitlan.
