The aztecs lead and conquered with power. They had a tribute system, it is to pay a more powerful ruler or country. So when the aztec became big and conquered other tribes. In order to live the conquered tribe would have to pay the aztec ruler with goods such as cotton, gold, or food. this was part of the aztec economy.
