“Our struggle today is not to have female Einstein get appointed as an assistant professor. It is for a women schlemiel to get as quickly promoted as a male schlemiel.”(Bella Abzug)

Bella Abzug was right when she said this because back in the 1900s women had a very difficult time fighting for the rights to vote and sit in parliament. The men they were fighting against strongly disagreed about what they were fighting for. Women were not allowed to vote, own things like property or bank accounts, or even have a place in government, therefore women were treated politically unfair by men.

Bella Abzug was a social activist and a leader of the American Women's movement
