Official Book Definition: A property

Book Definition: The property says when you multiply a number times a numerical expression, you can find the answer first and then multiply or multiply each number in the expression and add those.

Distributive Property

Examples:
6x(3+4)=6x3+6x4
6x(7+3)=6x7+6x3

Personal Definitions:
Carleigh's: This is when you multiply a number by the sum of 2 numbers and that equals the one number times the two separate numbers.
Ayra's: The property basically is when you can multiply a number to numbers being worked out (the book definition's numerical expression) together, you can operate the numbers then multiply or multiply the value being multiplied to the numbers operated and add them together.

How to Remember:
You can remember this property by just looking at the name of it. The word distributive has the word distribute which to give out. The word distribute says this is the property of giving out the value to the others and adding it together. Since you are distributing the multiplied number, this is an easy way to remember.
