Martin Luther King Jr was a pastor and the main leader of the African American Civil Rights Movements. He preached that in order to gain civil rights, violence must be eliminated and people would have to solve issues peacefully. He came up with these theories from his Christian beliefs. He was arguably the most affective proponent in the African American's fight for rights. He, along with people such as Malcolm X, Rosa Parks, Jesse Jackson, and many others lead the way for America to change its ways and finally truly live by the principle that all men are created equally. Dr. King is definitely the first person people think about when they hear about the Civil Rights Movement.
