Differences Amongst The Colonies Economies

Southern

The southern colony was mostly agriculture based. Since it was a major source of the economy, they had to export materials for ship, such a tar and wood.

Free Market Economy
"Bread Basket"- large grain export
Produced many goods including iron, paper, and textiles. Forrests were abundant in the Middle Colonies, which gave them a lumber resource for ship building. Also did trading in Europe for manufactured goods.

Largely farming and fishing economy. The people made their own clothes and shoes. They grew much of their own food. Crops like corn and wheat.
Whaling and trading were also major parts of the economy
