In the beginning of the colonies, a property holding male were elected by the colonial legislature. But even though they tries to opt ain't some power, the governors were appointed by the king and always had complete control.
Middle
Southern

House of Burgesses became the ruling body of Virginia. The members of the government were chosen by the male landowners. Maryland (MIDDLE COLONY) had a similar elected assembly.
Each colony in the middle region had a representative.
All colonies elected there own legislature they were all democratic
they all had government courts and a court system
Connecticut & Rhode Islands were charter colonies (they were founded by a group of settlers who had been given a charter for their rights)
Massachusetts & New Hampshire were royal colonies. These colonies had their governor & council (upper house) that was appointed to them by Britain
Town meetings meant anyone could voice their opinion & vote. This lead to the growth of democracy.
