Fitting in is the best option, that way they don't judge you.
On November 15th, 1999 yet another great child was born. This time her name is Chloe Abigail Mears. However when her mom decided that the best option was to give her up for adoption and so she was. She found a very lovely home with great parents who love her more than anything in the world, they love all of their children like that, biological and adopted. Which reminds me, she has a sister who is also adopted, but the similarities don't end there, it turns out they have the same mom but different dads, they had no idea for a very long time, but of course their parents knew. For her, like many of us life has been stressful, and while she couldn't pinpoint exactly why, her stress was greatly increased when she came to high school. Chloe doesn't have a favorite childhood memory specifically but she said “spending time with all of my siblings was always enjoyable for me.” She doesn't really have a happiest memory but she says that she has always kind of fell somewhere in the middle, as in she isn’t too happy or not too sad. On the contrary, she does say that she is always saddest when someone dies that she knows. In fact, Chloe said that the scariest thing she's ever done is go to her brother’s funeral. She said that she would never do this again because she obviously loved him and it was weird seeing him like that because she always remembers him being happy. She said “it was just weird seeing everyone there, so sad…” On a happier note Chloe also said that her biggest achievement is making the lionettes team freshman year. Chloe is extremely proud of being on the lionettes dance team because it was her first high school team. Chloe like the others in this book has a role model. It just so happens to be her dad. She said “he is really positive and doesn't see anything in a negative way.” For Chloe a role model needs to have the following qualities, “ they need to be positive and take a leadership type role, like my dad.” When I asked her if she would rather stand out or fit in she gave me an answer that completely shocked me, she said “I would rather fit in.” I asked her why and she said what most teenagers would say “fitting in is the best option because no one judges you because everyone else is doing it too.” The reason I was so shocked is because Chloe strikes me as someone who is very outgoing and generally doesn't care what others think, however it's the opposite because she does care. Right now Chloe is working on focusing on herself more than anyone else, maybe this reflection time she will spend working on herself will show her that she is an amazing human being who doesn't need to worry about what other people say about her, because like I said she's a pretty freaking awesome person.
