Education Reform
Unlike with education today in the 1800's there was no uniform education policy. Throughout states and the towns inside them school conditions varied. Also at the time schools had children of all ages in the same classroom. In the 1830's Americans demanded for the establishing of tax-supported public schools.
And by the late 1830's 42 percent of elementary student attended public schools.
